*August Theme * Creating Sacred 2025 - Part 1

Sacredness?

The Exploration That Already Began

Sacred.

Sacredness.

What is sacredness to you?

Can we create the sacred?

Can we enhance our ability to perceive the sacred?

———

Of course there is the dictionary definition.

But, what I am asking is, “when you hear the word ‘sacred’ what first comes to mind?

———

And, just in case you cannot possibly read more without actually reminding yourself of the definition of the word, here is the link:

The online Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines “sacred” via 5 different options. That is quite a few options. Here is the link to the definition.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sacred

*yep - I couldn’t write any thing else without looking up the word ‘sacred’ - you get me :)

Our World - Sacred

The majority of the definitions offered by Merriam-Webster are associated with God, with what is Holy.

This can mean something different to each of us, 8 billion plus, 8,191,988,453 by one count.

Even groups of millions/billions agreeing to worship in constructs of aligning dogmas, will, upon closing their eyes, see/experience/know their faith in a unique way.

Take a look at the world population clock: https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/

Whoa!! Gets me every time!

Literally fascinating and ridiculously hard to conceptualize.

And, back to the question of sacredness?

My definition of sacredness - summarized version:

“That which I am aware of that helps me feel good about living another moment. A moment I experience connection to something that brings wonder and ahhh — A moment that further cements my commitment to stay alive and fight for life on this planet and that which protects life, animals, nature.”

Why the theme of Sacredness? How connected to our vision of empowerment?

people in line, sitting down on chairs, a few have notebooks out and pens

Facilitating one of my in person groups a few years back, one of my clients asked, “How do I reframe an experience into something positive when I have NO idea what positive even is?”

*Picture of a group of people, sitting in line on chairs, some with journals out on their laps, pens in hand, one with cell phone next to journal

***Ok… stay with me here… sacred is not necessarily positive - yet this is the moment that led me to fall into questioning our ability to purposefully create and/or acknowledge the sacred as a purposeful way of reframing our pain/struggle/suffering into space that is tolerable even acceptable —- maybe transitioning into sacred?

This struck me.

How many of you can relate?

What is positive?

What is your positive?

Do you know?

The idea that this human has lived in a reality where they are not sure if anything is positive or what it is positive - and just realized they did not know what ‘their’ positive was - well that was and still is a new concept of existence that I had not considered possible.

***In a future blog, I will be focusing on empowerment. In another love. The above experience is similar to other clients sharing with me, “I have never felt empowered. Does it feel good?” and “I do not know love.”

The question my client asked went to the foundation of human experience.

I did share with my client, my reaction to their question, “What a wonderful moment of profound self-awareness. You have popped one of your bubbles of ignorance (this is what I call it when I hit self-discovery moments that I didn’t even know I hadn’t discovered - yet - when I first figured out that each of us have infinite bubbles of ignorance - well - my life became more interesting).” I explained to the group my philosophy on ‘bubbles of ignorance’ and the journey of self-awareness. That each new bubble popped is a potential for us to integrate closer to our core selves.

Note:

HUGE THANK YOU to each human that has walked with me in these groups. Both when I was a member of a group and as a facilitator. My own bubbles of ignorance are consistently popped by my clients. Humans that trust a moment in time, feel safe enough in that moment, to explore their most vulnerable spaces.

My life is better because of you. Thank you for helping me trust in my own life’s purpose.

———

For the remainder of the group, we began the process of breaking down how we know ‘positive.’

That is:

  • what does positive feel like?

  • look like?

  • how do you know you are experiencing something positive?

This is when I began to link positive, along with the awareness of a positive experience with meaning. Positive often links with Meaningful. Sometimes.

Yes. Meaningful is found in every feeling and space - yet this was a new road map.

———

“No, Not Again! Not another ‘meaning of life’ exploration!”

Yes.

I am going there.

What is the meaning of life?

When you find your meaning, for your life, is that not sacred?

Honestly, I cannot help it. Once you get to know me, I literally breath because I am constantly in this space.

*Warning: I got distracted… with FUN first experiments!

*Meaning of life and the Sacred picks back up as the topic immediately after the tree picture with information on history of blogging.

Dr. Anna Treacy, EXTREMELY UNEDITIED!!! AKA, Anna being silly and learning. All of these first’s for me! This is a 30 second video of me literally just experimenting with adding a vlog into a blog. My gosh! Never have I ever!!!

*Happy that I get to share with you here. This is a new space for me.

(dare I share… my very first blog post)

*People wonder why it takes me so long to get anything done. One, my brain is on fire. Two, I have so many questions!!!

*Because, “Inquiring Minds Want to Know.” - Inquirer

*My question:

  • When did the blogging first start?

*Answer:

  • 1994

  • Swarthmore University student Justin Hall is credited with the very first blog in the history of blogging. He launched it onto the internet on January 27, 1994. It was known as Justin’s Homepage and consisted of assorted and sundry links he found interesting enough to share.

*Fun Facts:

According to SEMRush:

  • More than 500 million blogs exist

  • Running out of 1.7 billion websites

  • averaging over 400 million users each month.

Here we are.

Sacredness and the Meaning of Life.

———

As one of my mentors had taught me,

“Healing and Recovery are Integration.” - Dr. Wendy Oliver-Pyatt

———

It is clear to me that lasting recovery and stabilization of mental and physical health is rooted in our why? It is also rooted in our ability to *find your unconditional nurturer (F.U.N.).

F.U.N. is one of my creations. It is getting close to a format I can confidently share with you. It is a culmination of work, ideas, insights, exercises, explorations, and activities that have worked for many different people.

In the exploration of the Sacred.

As a guide for next time and moving on…

We will be also be exploring the following:

Your Meaning of Life.

- “Man’s Search for Meaning” by Viktor E. Frankl

Your Ikigai.

- NOT what you think it is, unless you were taught by someone who actually knows what it is, the westernized version is NOT ikigai. Please explore the truth of ikigai via this website and article - it is a feel good read:

Your Element.

- “Finding Your Element” by Sir Ken Robinson

Your Wonder.

- “The Power of Wonder” by Monica C. Parker

  • Thank you to one of my besties, Dr. Kathleen Hill, for sharing your sacred with me. And, for sharing the impact this book and this author has had on your life. And, for sending me a copy!!! I have to finish the CEU Intuitive Eating Counselor course (which is awesome) and literally helps anyone with food struggles dig deep to help you integrate) and this book is the first on my list. Hence… we will not be exploring it on this blog for a bit.

Your Grit.

- “Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance” by Angela Duckworth

Oh and this:

- Heard about this on the radio:

- The work of Casper ter Kuile https://connectivetissue.substack.com/p/communal-rituals-sacred-hospitality

- I have not personally read Casper’s work, it will be interesting to explore with you.

February 2025 One of My Sacred moments. Mono Lake, Ca. Road Trip to extremely sacred moments. Though, the obstacles. So many.

One of My Sacred Moments

Me with an Earth Angel I got to meet on a most sacred adventure.

The obstacles I had to face and overcome to take this journey. Constant.

As my Auntie shared with me, “You are definitely on the right track. The Devil tries to stop us when we are living in and moving toward our true purpose.”

Well, I am feeling it. And, I am not going to stop.

My Auntie as been one of my greatest supporters, believing in my ability to overcome any obstacle. Thank you Auntie.

Thank you to my family. My friends. My Mentors. My Angels. My Ancestors.

And… we’re off -
